adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Avaha has found her forever home! Her story. Our beloved Avaha was rescued from the public shelter in Zalau – a place that is not only overcrowded and loud, but also unfortunately has a euthanasia station. Had she not received timely help, her fate would have been sealed. But these times are now finally over for her, and her beautiful dog life has just begun! She has adapted surprisingly well to her new home and her foster family. The approximately 5-year-old female dog is friendly, clingy, and very people-oriented. It seems as though she once had a home. Avaha actively seeks out human proximity and enjoys every form of attention. When she is stroked, she is in her element. Avaha is an uncomplicated female dog who is already accustomed to both leash and harness. She handles new situations with calmness and curiosity, hiding behind her people when she feels uncertain. She is open to meeting new people, and her current relationship with dogs is based on mutual liking. Her gentle, open nature makes her a wonderful companion for people who meet her with patience and love. A home with close family ties, regular walks, and lots of cuddles would be ideal for her – a backyard would be a nice extra, but it’s not a must. At 47 cm shoulder height, Avaha has a nice, medium size for all activities. Avaha shows a great interest in scents, her nose is often on the ground, and she reacts clearly to movement. A definite prey drive is present. Sniffing work and hunting behavior could be first topics for shared hours in positively reinforced dog training classes. In general, a great opportunity to strengthen the bond between two-legged and four-legged. Who falls in love with our lovely Avaha and wants to give her a life full of love and security? Avaha is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She also brings an EU pet passport. Thank you, Natalie, for naming Avaha. Date: 25.05.

Vielen Dank an Natalie! Du hast Avaha ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 25.05.2025

About Avaha

What life with Avaha looks like

Avaha is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Avaha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Avaha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Avaha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Avaha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Avaha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Avaha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Avaha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
