Avena was captured using a trap cage after living her entire life on the streets. A person tipped us off because she was stealing food from their dog and, to make matters worse, she had five one-month-old puppies hidden in some hay bales. When our volunteers arrived, Avena was indeed very nervous, wandering around the area. Fortunately, she was hungry and entered the cage, though she fought with all her strength to escape in order to protect her five one-month-old puppies. Avena is very afraid of people; she doesn't approach us and won't let us touch her. Inside the kennel enclosure, we can touch her, and she remains submissive and very scared. It will take a lot of time for her to start trusting people; we don't know what has happened to this poor girl. She needs a family with experience in caring for fearful dogs who will give her a chance to experience what a home is like.

Avena fue capturada con jaula trampa después de llevar seguramente toda su vida viviendo en la calle. Una persona nos avisó porque se metía en su finca a robar la comida de su perro y, no sólo eso, sino que tenía escondidos a unos cachorros en unas pacas de paja. Cuando llegaron nuestros voluntarios, efectivamente, Avena estaba muy nerviosa merodeando en los alrededores. Afortunadamente, tenía hambre y entró en la jaula, aunque luchó con todas sus fuerzas por escapar para proteger a sus cinco cachorros de un mes de edad. Avena tiene mucho miedo a las personas, no se acerca a nosotros y no se deja tocar. Dentro del chenil la podemos tocar, ella se queda sumisa y muy asustada. Va a necesitar mucho tiempo hasta que empiece a confiar en las personas, no sabemos lo que habrá pasado esta pobre. Ella necesita una familia con experiencia en perros miedosos que le de una oportunidad de conocer lo que es un hogar.
