Adopt AXEL (gt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

One afternoon, he simply appeared at our foster home’s gate, faithfully accompanying his unspayed female companion. It was as if he knew exactly where they needed to be to find the safety they had never known. While his companion has already found her forever home and started her new chapter, this brave boy is still waiting for his turn. Axel has has a well-balanced energy level for his age. He is highly adaptable and shows has a “eager to please” personality, making him easy to integrate into a variety of household environments. He is at a malleable age and responds well to positive reinforcement. He walks well on the lead without significant pulling and knows sit.He is very social and enjoys the company of other canines. He coexists peacefully and plays well, providing his housemates are not overly dominant. He thrives best with submissive or neutral companions. Due to his background as a rescue who faced food scarcity, he values his meals and prefers to eat in his own space. He can be left alone for a few hours once he has settled in. As with any rescue, his transition to staying home alone should be handled gradually to ensure he feels secure in his new environment. The perfect setting for him would be a home with a garden. While he is well-behaved and has a balanced energy level, having a private outdoor space would allow him to explore, sunbathe, and play freely, which is essential for his continued development. He is fully vaccinated and neutered. Axel can be cat tested if needed.

About AXEL (gt)

What life with AXEL (gt) looks like

AXEL (gt) is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stray2Me Rescue in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting AXEL (gt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about AXEL (gt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stray2Me Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw AXEL (gt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt AXEL (gt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stray2Me Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is AXEL (gt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if AXEL (gt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stray2Me Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know AXEL (gt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
