Adopt Ayla

Mixed Breed · Female

Hello and meow, I am the cute Ayla, found and brought to the animal shelter. I am estimated to be at least 15 years old. In nature, I am very loving and enjoy being petted. Then I roll back and forth in joy and am simply happy. Since I was once an outdoor cat, I would love to have a cat-safe balcony where I can enjoy fresh air and sunshine. Health-wise, I have thyroid issues and need to take my medication twice daily on time, which I do without complaint. I know it's difficult for an older feline to find a new home again. But I've heard that there are wonderful people out there who would also like to give an old cat a cozy spot to spoil her. If you or you are, please quickly report to the animal shelter and we can make an appointment to meet.

About Ayla

What life with Ayla looks like

Ayla is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Hochtaunus in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ayla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ayla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hochtaunus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ayla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ayla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hochtaunus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ayla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ayla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hochtaunus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ayla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
