Adopt Ayla (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

The ages mentioned here are often estimated values, as we do not always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Ayla Born May 22, 2018 Gender female dog Breed mixed breed (Mother see Alma) Size medium growing, weight by the end of July 5-6 kg foster home Despite initial difficulties, Ayla has won the heart of the foster home, and thanks to dog trainers and the whole family's willingness to train, Ayla can now stay. We wish Ayla and her new family all love and good fortune for their shared future. Ayla has made it… it wasn't easy for the family… but they found a great trainer on their second try and gave everything so she could stay. Ayla is in a foster home in the Mainz area and is waiting for her new family :o) Ayla's mother, Alma, had a tough life… as a "breeding dog" with a shepherd, she produced offspring for him until… she landed in a Spanish culling station with three other puppies (Abbie, Amber, and Anuk). We rescued her at the last minute, as soon as they arrived at the Spanish foster home, the birth began. Now, Alma and her 7 puppies (Alana, Alessa, Ayla, Ailin, Andy, Artemis, and Aris) live in Spain in a private foster home. She is a great mother and a cuddly female dog. The puppies are now old enough and could come to Germany. All puppies have already had their first vaccinations and are growing almost by the minute. In September, they will be old enough to embark on their journey to Germany. The rambunctious pack is friendly with people and of course playful. We are very happy that we could give them a good start in their lives and are now looking for responsible people who are aware of what it means to take in a puppy as a family member and who have the time and joy to work through the "dog basics" together. We are looking for a foster home for Ayla in the Mainz-Wiesbaden area, perhaps with the option to adopt her if she fits in? If you are interested in this great dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. Click an image to enlarge.

About Ayla (vermittelt)

What life with Ayla (vermittelt) looks like

Ayla (vermittelt) is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ayla (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ayla (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ayla (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ayla (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ayla (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ayla (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ayla (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
