Ayran

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Ayran originally came from the animal shelter Kecskemét in Hungary. He has already been living for quite some time on his foster home in Germany, where he has quickly settled in and found his place. Unfortunately, Ayran has been overlooked so far, but he already does many things well and correctly. On the foster home, he shows a good temperament and lives there problem-free with several dogs. He is also friendly and gets along well with chickens. Additionally, he is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He knows the basic commands of sit and stay. With people, especially his familiar people, he is open and cuddly. Ayran can also be quite silly sometimes and then lets his Kasper side out. For our handsome Ayran, we are looking for a suitable home with the right people. Because our Ayran is a herding dog and thus seeks people with a good understanding of dogs and who are also grown to be at the other end of the leash. Ayran would certainly feel comfortable in a more rural environment with a large piece of land that he could also watch over, if allowed. Of course, with full family integration and people who will raise and treat him in a breed-appropriate manner and finally give him a home where he can belong. Since Ayran has lived with Grisa for years and is very attached to her, we would like to place the two together. Please only apply for a dog if you can adopt him soon! Foster homes are not long-term accommodation options – foster homes cannot reserve dogs for several weeks or even months. A quick move into the final home is important for the dogs, as they are settling in on the foster home, which can make a later change more difficult, and is not necessary if a home is found. Additionally, foster home placements are urgently needed, as many dogs in Hungary are waiting to take their place. Many thanks for your understanding and support in the interest of the dogs!

DE·Show original

Ayran stammt ursprünglich aus dem Tierheim Kecskemét in Ungarn. Er lebt bereits schon eine ganze Weile auf seiner Pflegestelle in Deutschland, wo er sich schnell eingelebt und zurechtgefunden hat. Leider wurde Ayran bisher immer übersehen, dabei macht er bereits viele Dinge gut und richtig. Auf der Pflegestelle zeigt er sich verträglich und er lebt dort mit mehreren Hunden problemlos zusammen. Auch mit Hühnern zeigt er sich umgänglich und verträglich. Er ist zudem stubenrein und er läuft gut an der Leine. Von den Grundkommandos kennt er bereits Sitz und Platz. Menschen gegenüber, besonders bei seinen vertrauten Menschen zeigt er sich aufgeschlossen und verschmust. Ayran kann auch manchmal richtig albern sein und lässt dann gerne mal den Kasper raushängen. Für unseren hübschen Ayran suchen wir ein passendes Zuhause mit den richtigen Menschen. Denn unser Ayran ist ein Herdenschutzhund und sucht somit Menschen mit Hundeverstand und die zudem dem anderen Ende der Leine gewachsen sind. Ayran würde sich sicherlich in einer ländlicheren Umgebung mit einem großen Grundstück, dass er bestenfalls auch noch bewachen darf, wohlfühlen. Selbstverständlich mit vollem Familienanschluss und Menschen, die ihn rassegerecht erziehen und behandeln und ihm endlich ein Zuhause schenken, wo er ankommen darf. Da Ayran bereits seit Jahren mit Grisa zusammenlebt und sehr an ihr hängt, möchten wir die beiden nur gemeinsam vermitteln. Bitte bewerbt euch nur für einen Hund, wenn ihr ihn auch zeitnah adoptieren könnt! Pflegestellen sind keine langfristigen Unterbringungsorte – die Pflegestellen können Hunde nicht über mehrere Wochen oder gar Monate „reservieren“. Für die Hunde ist zudem ein schneller Umzug ins endgültige Zuhause wichtig, da sie sich zunehmend auf der Pflegestelle einleben, was einen späteren Wechsel erschweren kann und nicht notwendig ist, wenn ein Zuhause gefunden ist. Außerdem werden die Pflegestellenplätze dringend benötigt, denn es warten viele Hunde in Ungarn, die dann nachrücken können. Vielen Dank für euer Verständnis und eure Unterstützung im Sinne der Hunde! RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_ab870405"); RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_2615c2b9");

About Ayran

What life with Ayran looks like

Ayran is a extra-large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. in Marsberg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ayran, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ayran?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ayran on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ayran if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ayran already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ayran isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ayran and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
