adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Azzuro has found a home! His story: Azzuro has already made paw prints in his foster home and is making great progress every day. He arrived very anxious and stressed and wouldn't let anyone touch him. But after some time to relax in his own safety zone, he warmed up more and more and gained trust. The cute puppy has learned a lot in the past months. He has become a real snuggle pup and gets along well with the other familiar animals. Despite the exhausting "adolescent" phase and initial anxiety, Azzuro is a true wonder dog. The garden is his comfort zone, and there he has already learned to immediately turn around when foster mom calls him to get his treat. For his cookies, he will do anything. Azzuro is currently transforming into a real "show dog." After intensive training, Azzuro can now wear his harness and has finally gone out into the world. He is becoming more confident outside, orienting himself well to his primary caregiver and exploring new environments. Cars, tractors, and trucks – all are no problem. He masters all these new challenges at his own pace. Other dogs, pedestrians, and cyclists are still a bit daunting to him, but with some practice, he will also be able to pass them confidently. Azzuro loves search tasks and masters them with enthusiasm. We would be happy if his future family would foster this in him. Azzuro is fully ready for his own family and can be visited at his foster home at any time. The little Azzuro was brought to the shelter with his siblings Ocean and Féli and his mother by the dog catchers. Although Azzuro is still a small fur ball, he will grow to be approximately medium-sized. His appearance suggests that he is a mixed breed with a variety of colors. He shows characteristics of a herding dog and because of his blue eyes, we cannot rule out husky genes. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home for him that either already has experience with these traits or is willing to learn about them and can provide the optimal conditions. Herding dogs are not city dogs. They should live more in the countryside, and a garden would be great, with little or no visitors or changing people. They are also not suitable for taking to the office. Herding dogs bring great qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want other breeds anymore, as they are despite their thick skulls very loyal and faithful companions. Azzuro is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings his EU pet passport with him and can be taken home after a positive decision. Many thanks Michel! You gave Azzuro his name! Many thanks to Sabrina for the beautiful photos of Azzuro! and as of: 10.10.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Autos, Traktoren, LKWs – alles kein Problem.

About Azzuro

What life with Azzuro looks like

Azzuro is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Azzuro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Azzuro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Azzuro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Azzuro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Azzuro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Azzuro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Azzuro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
