adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Babette has found her people! Her story: The little, enchanting Babette had an incredibly unusual place of origin. A man was driving his car from Timisoara to Cluj when he heard extremely strange noises in the engine compartment. He pulled over and when he looked inside, he hardly believed his eyes. There she was, the little Babette, stuck in the engine compartment. Lucky for the little mouse that her rescuer reacted so quickly, because she already had burns on her paws. This could have been very different for her and the driver. But her paws have healed and the past is forgotten. Babette currently lives in a Romanian foster home and is doing well there. She is very loving and curious and shows puppy-like behavior. Otherwise, she has a more quiet nature. She likes to play with other dogs, but also enjoys being alone and getting all the attention from her foster parents. She is very loving and clingy with them. Babette would also make a good beginner dog. Currently, she weighs 6kg and is 42cm in size. She will continue to grow but is likely to reach a medium size. Babette is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of her and will show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn, even though she has already learned a lot in her foster home. Sometimes, she might make a little mess, but we shouldn't take it personally and should always guide Babette with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with beautiful nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos will turn the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" a lot of what they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important during this phase to consistently but lovingly train. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Babette travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with the EU pet passport in her luggage. She would also be happy to stay in a foster home. Sunny W., you enabled Babette to start a wonderful dog life with your namingsponsorship, thank you for that. As of: 14.06.

Stand: 14.06.2024

About Babette

What life with Babette looks like

Babette is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Babette, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Babette?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Babette on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Babette if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Babette already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Babette isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Babette and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
