Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) Category: Dogs Last updated: 03. January 2026 Gender: male Born: ca. 2016 Breed: Malinois Size: ca. 65 cm Neutered: no Sought: new home Illnesses: none known Hello, I am Back and a 6-year-old male Malinois dog. My owner unfortunately passed away, which is why I had to come to the animal shelter. Due to my not having the best experiences with people so far, I am somewhat skeptical of them. And the first few days were not easy for my caretakers at the animal shelter. But I am at heart a good guy who learns quickly, but requires a consistent hand. I am more of a dominant type, if someone cannot assert themselves towards me, I quickly take control. But I am currently only forming a few bonds. I require a lot of security. But I have learned a lot in the meantime, and my walks are going well. Although I still look for potential dangers for my person and want to protect them, I don't necessarily have to. I am currently learning that. Anyone interested in me must bring a lot of time and patience. I am not an easy type. But it is worth it if the person really wants to work with me! Update 30.03.2024: Back is a shadow dog. "What are 'shadow dogs'? Shadow dogs are dogs that, despite training and re-socialization efforts, remain particularly specific and are rarely rehomed with responsible owners of children and gardens, and thus become long-term residents in animal shelters." Source: buendnis-schattenhund.org Back came to us after his owner passed away, and he bit his owner's widow multiple times. His owner unfortunately did not want him as a friendly family dog. Instead, he tried to make him into a "guard dog" using questionable methods. Back can be a very charming dog, he likes cuddles, loves work, and rewards.

Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) Kategorie: Hunde Zuletzt aktualisiert: 03. "Was sind „Schattenhunde“? Leid

About Back (leider nicht vermittelbar)

What life with Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) looks like

Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Altentreptow in Altentreptow.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Back (leider nicht vermittelbar), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Back (leider nicht vermittelbar)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Altentreptow handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Altentreptow will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Altentreptow early rather than rehoming privately; they know Back (leider nicht vermittelbar) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
