Baikal Vermittlungshilfe

Male · Adult · 6 years

Baikal – powerful protector with a big heart &; Baikal is a 6-year-old male dog looking for a new home after a severe stroke of fate. His beloved owner – the father of his current family – recently passed away. With a heavy heart, the family now has to admit that they cannot do justice to him in the long run. Baikal is currently still living with his family. Interested parties are asked to contact them directly. As a puppy, Baikal was brought to Germany from Russia by an animal welfare organization and lovingly adopted. Based on his appearance and temperament, we assume he is a type of livestock guardian dog. What does that mean? The livestock guardian dog is a confident and very loyal dog. Originally bred to protect herds, it brings typical characteristics: strong protective instinct, high independence, watchfulness and territorial behavior, close bond with "its" people, need for clear leadership and a task. Baikal therefore needs people with dog experience, ideally with knowledge of handling livestock guardian dogs. A house with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for him. He loves extended exercise and mental stimulation, but equally enjoys quiet moments and cuddles with his trusted people. With his family, he is clingy and loyal. Unfortunately, Baikal does not get along well with small dogs. Contact with other male dogs is particularly difficult. Since he has been bitten multiple times, he initially approaches fellow animals with skepticism and defensiveness. For Baikal, we are looking for a responsible home that understands his breed-typical traits not as a challenge, but as a strength. People with clarity, patience, and heart, who can give him security and appreciate his loyalty. Baikal has been through a lot – now he deserves a place where he can finally settle in again. &;

Was bedeutet das?

Frequently asked

Adopting Baikal Vermittlungshilfe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baikal Vermittlungshilfe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Wally-Bangert-Tierheim Lohr am Main handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baikal Vermittlungshilfe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baikal Vermittlungshilfe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Wally-Bangert-Tierheim Lohr am Main will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baikal Vermittlungshilfe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baikal Vermittlungshilfe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Wally-Bangert-Tierheim Lohr am Main early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baikal Vermittlungshilfe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
