Bailey

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Description Our Spanish animal welfare workers report: Time passes and passes, and Bailey is still eagerly waiting for his home, as he has now been waiting for over two years! Unfortunately, we know nothing about the past of this handsome male dog, but he shows himself to be friendly and open. Although he can be somewhat shy and reserved at first, he quickly warms up when he realizes that he is receiving attention and affection. Bailey loves going for walks in nature and especially enjoys car rides! We assume that he is not accustomed to big cities and large crowds, which might initially overwhelm him. However, since Bailey is an active dog who still wants to experience many adventures, he will likely show curiosity. The big guy with the beautiful caramel-colored eyes gets along well with other dogs and there are no issues. Unfortunately, Bailey tested positive for leishmaniasis and now takes an Allopurinol tablet every 12 hours. His organs are otherwise in good condition and Bailey is doing well. This handsome male dog has been waiting so long for his "big-dog-lovers" who can give him a home and show him how wonderful a dog's life can be. Will Bailey finally find the long-awaited happiness of a home? Update 02.04.2024 new pictures, new description, new data 16.08.2023 (new description, new video): The Spanish animal protectors noticed that Bailey's fur around his face, especially around the eyes, had changed. This so-called "goggle formation" is often a symptom of leishmaniasis. Therefore, a blood test was conducted. Unfortunately, the suspicion was confirmed: Bailey has leishmaniasis. This disease can be treated well and relatively uncomplicated. Bailey is already under medical treatment and is doing quite well. If you are interested in Bailey, we will explain in detail how leishmaniasis is treated and what is important for a dog with this condition. Information on leishmaniasis Home needed For Bailey we are looking for a loving, understanding home. Our dogs typically come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and with an EU passport to their new home, as far as their health allows. Additionally, they are tested for leishmaniasis and ehrlichiosis (from one year of age, as tests before then are not reliable). We look forward to your contact.

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
