Adopt Bakalia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Bakalia is a small, fragile, but extremely brave kitten who spent her entire young life on the streets. Like many feral cats, she became pregnant and, despite her small size, became the mother of six kittens. She took care of them as if they were her most precious treasure, even when she herself was exhausted. Today, the kittens are beginning their first days in a temporary home, while Bakalia remains in a cage, but still carries this extraordinary love and willingness to face new challenges. Bakalia has been spayed and will be vaccinated, and tests for FIV and FeLV came back negative. Although she has a shortened tail from the past, it does not diminish her character: she is a cat who loves and wants to be loved. Appearance-wise, she may seem shy, as she sometimes panics, but with each day she becomes calmer and more open to affection. She is about 2 years old, and her front teeth are slightly damaged. These small imperfections do not limit her life or play. Bakalia loves the company of other cats and can find joy in everyday little things. She is looking for someone who will give her a home full of warmth and affection. She needs a place where she can gradually feel safe, regain her confidence, and be a happy cat who can play, purr, and finally sleep peacefully in her own corner.

Read original (pl)

Dziś kociaki zaczynają swoje pierwsze dni w domu tymczasowym, a Bakalia została w klatce, ale wciąż nosi w sobie tę niezwykłą miłość i gotowość, by sprostać nowemu wyzwaniu.

About Bakalia

What life with Bakalia looks like

Bakalia is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bakalia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bakalia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bakalia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bakalia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bakalia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bakalia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bakalia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
