Baku

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Baku will turn three years old in May 2026 and is a muscular dog with a shoulder height of 56 cm. He currently lives in a family and is now sadly searching for a new, permanent home. Due to several significant changes in the family, Baku can no longer be adequately cared for in the long term. Baku is an intelligent, active, and people-oriented male dog who is described as very uncomplicated in everyday life. Collar and harness can be easily attached, and he handles car rides and public transportation calmly. He is house-trained, can stay alone for a while, and sleeps through the night reliably. He masters basic commands like Come, Sit, Down, and No, and knows some everyday routines. Baku is strongly attached to his trusted people, is eager to learn, and works happily with them. He is friendly and attentive to people. With children, he is generally affectionate, but Baku is very sound-sensitive. Loud voices, arguments, or hectic situations mean a lot of stress for him. For this reason, we are looking for a home without small children, preferably a quiet household with teenagers or adults. Environmental stimuli like joggers, cyclists, and the like do not pose a problem for him. In the house, Baku shows only a few insecurities: The vacuum cleaner slightly frightens him, while other everyday noises are no problem. However, he has a great fear of loud bangs, especially from fireworks. In dealing with other animals, Baku is differentiated: He gets along well with female dogs, but reacts negatively to male dogs. He does not like cats, and small animals like rabbits, chickens, or ducks trigger his hunting instinct. Baku is healthy except for a known grain intolerance. We wish for him a quiet, stable, and loving home with dog-experienced people who respect his sensitivity and offer him security, structure, and sufficient exercise. Baku is a sensitive, faithful companion who finds peace and builds a close bond with the right people. He is looking for a place where he can finally belong. Baku is vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He possesses an EU pet passport. Baku is available for adoption. Stand: April 15.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 15.04.2026

About Baku

What life with Baku looks like

Baku is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baku, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baku?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baku on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baku if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baku already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baku isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baku and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
