Baku

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 9 years

The lively, friendly Baku! He has a charming personality, is attentive and sensitive, people-oriented, and clingy. In the house, he explores everything curiously and sticks his nose everywhere. However, he only watches and doesn’t take anything or nibble on anything. Outdoors, he is amazed by all the stimuli he probably hasn’t encountered before. In new situations, he is initially a bit excited but becomes visibly more relaxed with repetition. At the same time, he is also brave, looking at everything closely and sniffing with great enthusiasm. He now really enjoys walks! He already runs well on the leash, responds to his name and recall. He reacts openly and friendly to strangers, enthusiastically to dogs, and a bit stormy at the beginning. To his movement stimuli, he currently only reacts mildly and can be easily distracted. At home, he needs a while to calm down, but he comes to rest very well on his own if left alone. At night, he sleeps quietly through. Baku is looking for people who appreciate his playful and lively nature, show him the world, do exciting things with him, and then let him rest at home. You will get a dog who bonds closely with his people, is smart, listens well, and learns quickly. With the help of calm, clear structures and positive reinforcement, the little man will soon become a jack-of-all-trades who accompanies you through thick and thin! Baku is a friendly mixed-breed male dog who is in our partner shelter Hogar de Asis and is waiting for a wonderful home with people who can go through life with him. Here at the animal shelter, he shows himself to be open to all people, dogs, and new situations without any fear of touch, so we can present him in various dog-friendly lifestyles. This could be, for example, rugged seniors who want to start their retirement with Baku, or a family with older children or motivated dog beginners who want to dive into the world of dogs with Baku.

DE·Show original

About Baku

What life with Baku looks like

Baku is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baku, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baku?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baku on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baku if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baku already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baku isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baku and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
