Baloo

Mixed Breed · Male

Baloo is a 14-month-old Caucasian Shepherd dog with a wolf-like coat. He ended up at the shelter after escaping from his previous owner’s property, who decided to give him up due to personal difficulties. As a young member of this breed, Baloo is a large, strong, and independent dog. He can be cautious and distrustful toward strangers, yet he’s also highly alert and sensitive. He’s not a sweet, cuddly companion for just anyone—rather, he’s a dog that requires a consistent, stable, and mature guardian. Despite his size, he still has some puppy-like tendencies: he’s capable of skillfully digging under fences, and when he spots a cat, he immediately gives chase. He needs a wise handler who can set clear boundaries and provide him with guidance. Baloo has had contact with children and reacts well to them, but he does require reasonable adult supervision. At the moment, he’s in perfect health and doesn’t need any special dietary requirements. We’re looking for a home for him with a securely fenced yard and constant access indoors, so he can choose where he wants to spend his time. Baloo needs plenty of outdoor exercise, regular walks off the property, and—above all—a guardian who understands the unique characteristics of guard dog breeds. Once he builds a stable relationship with his human based on respect and trust, he’ll become a devoted and loyal family member.

PL·Show original

Baloo to 14-miesięczny owczarek kaukaski o wilczastym umaszczeniu. Potrzebuje mądrego ułożenia i wyznaczenia jasnych granic.

About Baloo

What life with Baloo looks like

Baloo is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Wrocław in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baloo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baloo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Wrocław handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baloo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baloo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Wrocław will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baloo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baloo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Wrocław early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baloo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
