Meet Balto – Our Diamond in the Ruff! This handsome boy is Balto, a German Shepherd mix who’s patiently waiting for his forever home. Shelter life just isn’t for him – it’s noisy, overwhelming, and Balto is struggling to relax here. But beneath the stress, we see glimpses of a smart, loyal, and loving dog who just needs the right person to help him shine. Balto loves his treats (seriously – they’re the way to his heart!) and we’re already using them for short bursts of training. He’s clever and eager to learn with the right motivation and calm guidance. Walks can be a little challenging at times, especially around other dogs – not out of aggression, but out of frustration and excitement. With a strong, confident, and experienced owner, we know Balto can learn to channel his energy in a more positive way. Balto will thrive in a quiet, structured home where he’s given time, space, and consistency. Balto by Liz, June 2026: Balto is a very sweet dog , he loves his walkies and was very excited when I went to get him. He loves a sniffari and he came up to me a few times for head scratches and looked for more as the walk went on and our time together grew.
