Balu came to the shelter through confiscation. He is not a dog for beginners and needs time to fully trust his human. While he shows his nice side, he will bare his teeth when feeling pressured or asked to do more than he's comfortable with. He's a typical representative of his breed - introverted and proud, but befriends quickly when approached politely and respectfully. He wants his new person all to himself. Once he accepts someone into his heart, he's an absolutely nice fellow who enjoys outings and is manageable. Even other people and environmental stimuli are no problem for him then.

Ein Akita, der seiner Rasse mehr als gerecht wird. Ein Hund mit Charakter und Seele. Balu ist sicherlich kein Hund, der einfach jedem Menschen gefallen möchte. Sein Charakter mag auf den ersten Blick vielleicht etwas ungewöhnlich wirken, denn manchmal fordert er Menschen durchaus aktiv auf und sucht ihre Nähe. Gleichzeitig zeigt er aber sehr deutlich, wo seine Grenzen liegen. An der Leine läuft Balu grundsätzlich gut und ist auch hervorragend abrufbar – solange ihm sein Mensch wirklich zusagt. Denn Balu entscheidet durchaus selbst, wem er sein Vertrauen schenkt und wem nicht. Er macht seiner Rasse alle Ehre und sucht deshalb Menschen, die genau diese besonderen Eigenschaften eines Akitas nicht nur kennen, sondern auch zu schätzen und zu verstehen wissen. Balu braucht Menschen, die seine Grenzen respektieren, ihn lesen können und ihm die nötige Sicherheit und Führung geben.
