Bambi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Bambi is waiting for her big chance. The young female dog Bambi has been living at the animal shelter of our animal welfare organization Lumi in Borsa, Romania since March 2024. She was found with her sister Feline in a box - a sad start in life that she still seems to remember to this day. Bambi is a rather quiet and very shy dog. She is extremely anxious around new people and needs time, patience, and above all people who don't demand anything from her and give her the opportunity to build trust at her own pace. Her sister Feline has meanwhile been able to travel to Germany. She was also very anxious at first and had great difficulty trusting people. Feline has now gained trust in her family - a beautiful sign that patience and understanding can pay off. ❤️ With Bambi, however, one must be prepared for the fact that she may also show great uncertainty in a new home at first. If she feels cornered or trapped, she can snap at the person. This is not aggression in the true sense, but a reaction to her fear and overload. All the more important are people who can read her body language and give her security instead of forcing her to do something. Bambi can already run on a leash and harness, but is still very tense. Walks are currently more of a challenge than relaxation for her and must be slowly and carefully built up. Bambi gets along well with other dogs and likes to play with them. 🐾 A confident first dog could certainly give her security in her new home and help her to orientate herself in her new life. 🏡 We are looking for dog-experienced people with a lot of patience who are willing to give her the time she needs. A quiet, rural home without children and with a safe and escape-proof fenced garden would be ideal for her. Bambi doesn't need people who expect her to immediately become a cheerful and open-minded family dog. She needs people who understand that trust must grow - sometimes slowly and in very small steps. ❤️ Who is willing to accompany Bambi with calmness, patience and empathy, could be exactly the person she has been waiting for so long. We wish Bambi people who give her time without making demands on her - and show her that the world can also be a safe place. ❤️🐾 This is our assessment of Bambi's current behavior, how she will show herself in Germany, we cannot predict. Every dog can change and develop just like us humans.

About Bambi

What life with Bambi looks like

Bambi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Mischlingsliebe e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bambi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bambi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mischlingsliebe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bambi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bambi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Mischlingsliebe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bambi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bambi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mischlingsliebe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bambi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
