bandi

Podenco · Male · Adult · 5 years

AMI Update January 27, 2026: bandi is neutered and his vaccinations are completed. He is learning to walk on a leash. Because he was very scared at first, the foster family worked with a professional dog trainer and bandi has made good progress. Anyway, his new family needs to be patient, especially if he goes to an urban area and having a second dog in the family would be helpful, but it's not mandatory. He is very well socialized with other dogs. + 6 new photos and a new video added of bandi. Input April 20, 2025: bandi had been seen regularly for a long time, wandering around the village looking for food to survive. He was completely unaware of the danger of walking near busy roads with a lot of traffic. He did not allow people near him to help him. It was a long and difficult process to make him comfortable enough to go into a trap. With food to lure him and a daily routine, it eventually worked. Fortunately, bandi is a social dog who quickly found his place in the pack where he now resides. With his foster family, he quickly adapted, he behaves well among the other dogs, regardless of their age or gender. At first, he was still a bit afraid of people and did not like being picked up or hugged for a long time. You can touch and pet him but holding or hugging him makes him nervous. bandi has not been tested with cats, but because he is an active dog and has a prey drive, we think it's also not a good idea to place him with cats. Right now, bandi is living with a foster family where he also sleeps inside. He gets along well with everyone, is obedient and is a calm dog when he is sufficiently stimulated with walks and play.

About bandi

What life with bandi looks like

bandi is a medium-sized adult podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting bandi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about bandi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw bandi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt bandi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is bandi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if bandi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know bandi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
