Bao

Mixed Breed · Male

Bao is a lovely 5-6 year old puppy. This is the ideal age – he is already a mature dog, but still has a whole life ahead of him. Although he really wants to get to know the world around him, the reality of the shelter, the noise and the presence of many dogs simply overwhelm him. We respect his boundaries, we don't force anything and give him time to get used to the new situation. We are slowly getting to know each other and making small but significant steps. Bao allows himself to be petted and it clearly pleases him, he gladly accepts tasty treats from the hand - this is a perfect starting point for further work on his self-confidence and building a bond with a person. Under the gentle touch of a person he knows, he begins to understand that a human hand brings only good. It is a wonderful, sensitive dog who just needs a safe harbor. He still doesn't go for walks, but we hope that soon he will cross the shelter gates and set out on his short paws for his first walk and soon to a new home.

PL·Show original

Bao to uroczy 5-6 letni piesek. To wiek idealny – jest już psem dojrzałym ale wciąż ma przed sobą całe życie. Choć bardzo chce poznać otaczający go świat, schroniskowa rzeczywistość, hałas i obecność wielu psów po prostu go przytłaczają.

About Bao

What life with Bao looks like

Bao is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bao, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bao?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bao on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bao if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bao already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bao isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bao and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
