adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Barley has found his home! His story: Barley is an approximately 3-year-old male dog who, at around 35 cm, belongs to the smaller breeds and with his affectionate nature, quickly wins everyone's hearts. At first glance, he may appear a bit shy, but that's just an illusion: He comes running right up, seeks out contact with people, enjoys being stroked, and loves to cuddle. With other dogs, he shows himself to be playful, social, and friendly. He definitely belongs to the dogs who are always there, whether playing, relaxing, or simply in the middle of everyday life. Unfortunately, we know nothing about Barley's past. But what matters is his present and his readiness to finally arrive. How much he knows about life in a house can't be said. His new people should be ready to show him everything important step by step: house training, leash manners, being alone, all of this must be learned. With loving consistency, clear orientation, and possibly a visit to a positively working dog training class, he will surely fit in well. Barley travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He possesses an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive our area. As of: 14.06. Would you like to show Barley how wonderful a safe, loving home can be? Many thanks to Mexx, who gave Barley the chance at a new life with his name!

Stand: 14.06.2025

About Barley

What life with Barley looks like

Barley is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
