adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Barney has found his people! His story: Barney – your faithful companion through all life's situations! Barney is about 4 months old and a real heartbreaker on four legs. Together with his siblings Momo, Leo, and Olive, he was found alone – but from the start, Barney didn't give in! Open, friendly, and full of curiosity, he goes on adventures every day with a wagging tail and gleaming brown eyes. With his soft beige fur, tentative paws, and cheerful demeanor, Barney simply melts every heart. He will likely grow to be a medium size – just right to accompany you on all big and small adventures through life. Barney currently only knows the protected environment of the Romanian foster home. Life in a family, with all its routines, sounds, and demands, will be a big adjustment for him. Even though he has already learned a few things with his foster family, Barney still needs to learn the full Welpen-ABC in his new home. House training, leash walking, being alone, car rides – all of this is still not part of his everyday life. Whoever takes Barney into their home should be ready to guide him lovingly, patiently, and consistently through this exciting transition period. Barney will soon enter the exciting phase of puberty – and that can be quite turbulent, like with all young dogs. Little rascals suddenly forget what they were perfect at yesterday, test boundaries, and develop their own minds. During this phase, Barney needs understanding people who remain calm and consistent, even when things go a little off – people who stay by his side with heart, patience, and humor. Barney brings everything a wonderful companion needs: he is playful, curious, people-oriented, and already shows that he wants to learn and be liked. He wishes for a home that offers him security, structure, and, of course, lots of love. Physical and mental stimulation – like walks, hide-and-seek games, or small training sessions – are just as important as cuddle hours on the couch. A visit to a positively working dog training class would be a great support for Barney – not only for learning, but also to strengthen the bond with his people and to meet new doggy friends. Barney travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. He brings his EU pet passport and will be ready after a positive health check. A foster home would also be a great start for his new life. Who wants to explore the world side by side with Barney? Many thanks to Caro! You named Barney! Date: 08.06. This is a puppy.

Vielen Dank an Caro! Du hast Barney seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 08.06.2025

About Barney

What life with Barney looks like

Barney is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
