Verblijfplaats: Lummen BASHFUL IS EEN BAGAGERATJE! Beschrijving: Bashful en zijn 6 (half)broertjes zijn binnengekomen in de opvang op 21 september. De jongens komen uit 2 nestjes, maar zijn geboren met dezelfde papa en mama. Ze zijn bij hun vorige baasje geboren en werden nooit gehandteerd waardoor ze erg angstig zijn. Oppakken gaat gepaard met gepiep en zeer veel gefriemel, rustig in een buikzak blijven zitten is nog niet van toepassing. De jongens komen wel al meelwormpjes en ander lekkers aannemen, maar enkel als mijn hand in de kooi blijft. Enkele broertjes komen wel al nieuwsgierig kijken als je langs de kooi wandelt, al verbergen ze zich snel wanneer vervolgens de kooi open gaat. Voor de (half)broers zoeken we een thuisje met idealiter enkele andere tamme ratten waar ze een goed voorbeeld aan hebben. Het is noodzakelijk om reeds ervaring met ratten te hebben en er rekening mee te houden dat de jongens nog een lange weg af te leggen hebben. Wij doen ons uiterste best om zoveel mogelijk tips en informatie mee te geven aan de adoptanten van deze jongens en willen hoe dan ook vermijden dat "bagageratjes" na een periode terug moeten komen in de opvang. Dit zou opnieuw een hele klap zijn voor het diertje en tenslotte verdienen ze allemaal een stabiele, permanente en liefdevolle thuis. Gun het diertje tijd om zich aan te passen: ze hebben net heel wat meegemaakt (verhuis naar de opvang, dierenartsbezoeken, verhuis naar de adoptant, nieuwe vriendjes, ...) en zullen tijd nodig hebben om opnieuw hun draai te vinden.
