BASIL

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 10 months

BASIL, born on 01/04/2026, is a young Loulou (a Pomeranian) found in August by a private individual in the commune of Roissy en Brie, hiding under a bush and showing a problem with his right hind leg. Seen by a veterinarian, he was found to have a fracture and dislocation of the femoral head. An operation was carried out to remove the latter. Although he still shows some lameness, his convalescence is over, and he is now available for adoption. He is a very sweet kitten, who needed a little time to adapt to fitting in with the group at his foster family's home. Very playful, he no longer shies away from chase games with his buddies. He is close to people and lets them know it by asking for cuddles and attention, with plenty of purring. Very greedy, he loves mealtime with pâté, and there's no question of letting the others take his share! To come and meet BASIL in Ozoir-la-Ferrière, please contact 06 89 37 54 33.

About BASIL

What life with BASIL looks like

BASIL is a kitten mixed breed cat waiting at L in France.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting BASIL, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BASIL?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BASIL on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BASIL if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is BASIL already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BASIL isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L early rather than rehoming privately; they know BASIL and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
