Basja (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Name: Basja Born: June 2017 Gender: Female dog, neutered Breed: Mixed breed Size: ca. 40 cm Foster home: Basja arrived at her foster home in Wuppertal and is waiting there for her people. The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. – a special female dog is looking for her special people. Basja is a sporty, medium-sized, and estimated to be around four years old female dog who might stem from a very light Labbi working line. She is friendly, runs around freely, has no prey drive, and lets cats, grazing livestock, riders, joggers, and cyclists pass by unbothered. She also has a perfect social behavior towards other dogs. The only drawback of this perfect companion dog is that Basja, at least for now, would rather not cuddle. She seeks the closeness to her person, but cuddles and snuggling are not on her schedule. For everything else, she is perfect. Where are people who already have a cuddle partner but still have room for an independent dog personality? An ideal placement would be a horse farm, animal shelter, or farm where Basja could follow her person freely. She loves running around with fellow animals or, if necessary, alone. Who would like a sovereign companion who is sportively active, often brings a laugh as a little goblin, and would also be watchful? A sovereign only dog is a prerequisite for the mouse, making it easier for her to approach people. Basja is a female dog who is unfortunately unsure around people. She is very afraid and tries to avoid it when possible, but she can be touched and even picked up if she is fixed. Even under pressure, she remains defensive. She has never tried to bite. With other dogs, she is absolutely compatible and often orientates herself to them, so a sovereign only dog at home could be a great advantage in the adaptation process. Cats are still unknown to BASJA. If you are interested in this great dog, please fill out the referral form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. About Basja (vermittelt)

What life with Basja (vermittelt) looks like

Basja (vermittelt) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Basja (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Basja (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Basja (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Basja (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Basja (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Basja (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Basja (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
