adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Basko has found a home! His story: Basko is a ca. 11 year old male dog, ca. 60 cm tall, and weighs around 35 kg. He lives in the public shelter in Baia Mare. Basko loves people very much, and although he is already in the "elderly" stage, he still needs to learn what it means to be a pet but especially a family member, as he likely only knows life on the streets and in the kennel. He has enjoyed every second outside the kennel, breathing in fresh air, and simply enjoying his life. We hope very much that our treasure can maintain his positive attitude until his perfect family finally contacts us. See him, the fluffy white fur, the cute smile, and then the little spots on his nose… simply beautiful. We wish now that Basko finds his place in the world, surrounded by a warm, cozy dog bed and his own family who loves him. He gets along well with his female fellow animals, and with male dogs, it depends on the sympathy. He does not know cats and cannot be tested for them. We cannot rule out that Basko carries herding dog genes, which show when he settles in. Relevant knowledge about these breed characteristics would be important. A foster home would also be a great stepping stone for Basko. Basko travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home and is entitled to a positive trial period. Naturally, he has his own EU pet passport. Could you help our fluffball with travel arrangements? Many thanks! Gabriele H.! Thank you for giving Basko a name and a chance to find his family. Heartfelt thanks Mandy S.! You support Basko with a monthly sponsorship! Date: 28.06.

Lieben Dank Mandy S.! Du unterstützt Basko mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 28.06.2024

About Basko

What life with Basko looks like

Basko is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Basko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Basko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Basko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Basko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Basko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Basko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Basko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
