Adopt Batat

Male · Adult · 5 years

Batat is a dog around 6–7 years old. He is selective in his interactions with people and needs time, calmness and several meetings to trust new people. Once he gets to know someone and accepts them, he becomes a friendly and loyal companion. He is very happy to see his caregiver, likes contact with him and gladly goes on walks, which clearly make him happy. Batat will require further training, patience and consistency, therefore we are looking for a caregiver who is aware of the dog's needs, ready to build a relationship step by step. We are looking for a home without children for Batata. Trial walks are required, so the dog can feel safe and secure with his future caregiver. FOR adoption PLEASE PROVIDE OWN leash AND COLLAR. The description is written based on the observation of the dog in the animal shelter. Batat is under the care of OTOZ Animals animal shelter in Tczew. Shelter identification number: 371/24 Male dog is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and neutered.

About Batat

What life with Batat looks like

Batat is a large adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Batat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Batat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Batat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Batat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Batat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Batat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Batat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
