Barney is an impressive appearance: A handsome Husky cross of almost eight years old (01-06-2018) with a soft and loving character. Behind his tough looks is a dog that is hugely focused on people. He enjoys intense attention, hugging and active together. As you can expect from a Husky-mix, he thrives with energy and feels luckiest when he can be outside. Still, Barney has a vulnerable side. In new situations, he can be a little insecure, especially in men. But he who confronts him with patience, rest and a gentle approach soon sees how he thaws and shows his faithful, gentle nature. He wants to trust, and once he feels that, he builds a strong bond. Unfortunately, Barney's struggling with abandonment anxiety. Staying home alone is not possible for him and the presence of another dog does not take away that fear. At the moment he is experiencing a lot of unrest and is receiving behavioral medication, which must not be stopped. In his new home this guidance will be needed for a while. That's why we're looking for a place for Barney where he doesn't have to be alone, with someone who's home a lot (or can arrange a babysitter) and can offer him the stability he so longs for. Although Barney can generally handle other dogs well, a quiet, stable dog (preferably a female dog) could be a nice addition to his social well-being. However, this is not a solution to his abandonment fear, but can offer him additional support and company. For Barney we are looking for a house with a well fenced garden. He's a smart kid who doesn't hesitate to open doors himself if he gets the chance. Barney is een indrukwekkende verschijning: een knappe Husky-kruising van bijna acht jaar oud (01-06-2018) met een zacht en liefdevol karakter. Achter zijn stoere uiterlijk schuilt een hond die enorm op mensen gericht is. Hij geniet intens van aandacht, knuffels en samen actief bezig zijn. Zoals je mag verwachten van een Husky-mix, bruist hij van de energie en voelt hij zich het gelukkigst wanneer hij lekker buiten kan zijn. Toch heeft Barney ook een kwetsbare kant. In nieuwe situaties kan hij wat onzeker zijn, vooral bij mannen. Maar wie hem met geduld, rust en een zachte benadering tegemoet treedt, ziet al snel hoe hij ontdooit en zijn trouwe, zachtaardige aard laat zien. Hij wil graag vertrouwen, en als hij dat eenmaal voelt, bouwt hij een sterke band op. Helaas kampt Barney met verlatingsangst. Alleen thuis blijven is voor hem niet mogelijk en ook de aanwezigheid van een andere hond neemt die angst niet weg. Op dit moment ervaart hij daardoor veel onrust en krijgt hij gedragsmedicatie, die niet zomaar gestopt mag worden. In zijn nieuwe thuis zal deze begeleiding dus nog een tijdje nodig zijn. Daarom zoeken we voor Barney een plek waar hij niet alleen hoeft te zijn, bij iemand die veel thuis is (of oppas kan regelen) en hem de stabiliteit kan bieden waar hij zo naar verlangt. Hoewel Barney over het algemeen goed met andere honden kan omgaan, zou een rustige, stabiele hond (bij voorkeur een teef) een fijne aanvulling kunnen zijn voor zijn sociale welzijn. Dit is echter geen oplossing voor zijn verlatingsangst, maar kan hem wel extra steun en gezelschap bieden. Voor Barney zoeken we een huis met een goed omheinde tuin. Hij is namelijk een slimme jongen die er niet voor terugdeinst om zelf deuren te openen als hij de kans krijgt. Daarnaast hebben we informatie vanuit een vorige eigenaar dat hij niet goed gaat met jongere kinderen, maar wel met oudere.
