Vien jos vardas daug apie ją pasako. Begemotė yra be galo stipri ir energinga. Tad tinka tik stipriems žmonėms. Ji visiškai nerodo agresijos nei žmonėms, nei kitiems šunims. Begemotė labai meili ir nori žmogaus artumo, tik dar nemoka švelniai ir ramiai prieiti, tad pati to nenorėdama gali užgauti. Kambaryje gyvena tvarkingai, nieko nesugraužia ir reikalus atlieka tik lauke. Moka atsidaryti duris. Begemotė tinka tik tiems žmonėms, kurie turi laiko ir noro užsiimti šuns dresūra. Iš pradžių pasivaikščiojimai su ja nebus lengvi, nes jau reikia dar daug ko išmokti, bet viskas yra įmanoma. Didelė ir labai stipri. Svoris 37 kg. Amžius apie 3 m. Skiepyta, ženklinta, sterilizuota.
