BELLA

Mixed Breed · Female

How? How can a dog that has been shot… possibly run over… and left to starve until she was too weak to even stand… still have such an enormous capacity to love? This is Bella. When she arrived, she was on the brink of death. She was so severely malnourished she couldn’t walk or even sit up. She had to be hand-fed, hoping she would find the strength to keep fighting. At first it was thought she’d been hit by a car because she couldn’t move. Then the X-rays revealed something even more shocking. Bella had been shot. The pellets are still there, but after examining her, the surgeon confirmed they aren’t causing her pain or affecting her movement, so there is no need to put her through surgery. Her blood tests were all clear, and with proper food, care and love, she has slowly regained her strength. She can walk again. Her muscle has returned. Every day she grows a little stronger. But Bella’s greatest recovery isn’t physical. It’s her heart. She is trusting. She is kind. She is gentle. She is affectionate. She is loyal. She looks at every person she meets as though they might be the one who finally shows her the love she has always deserved. We will never understand how anyone could inflict such cruelty on such a beautiful soul. But perhaps even harder to understand is how Bella still chooses love over fear. She isn’t looking for a life of adventure or endless miles. She doesn’t need mountains to climb or marathons to run. She simply needs someone to love her as fiercely as she will love them. About BELLA

What life with BELLA looks like

BELLA is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Murcia) in Lips Rescue.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting BELLA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BELLA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Murcia) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BELLA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BELLA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Murcia) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BELLA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BELLA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Murcia) early rather than rehoming privately; they know BELLA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
