Ben

Mixed Breed · Male

️ BEN IS LOOKING FOR HIS FAMILY FOR LIFE ️ Ben is a lovely pigeon who arrived at the shelter from an animal pound. Unfortunately, we don’t know his past, but he’s now waiting for a home that’s well-suited to his needs. Adopting a pigeon requires a good understanding of its lifestyle. Ben will need a spacious, secure aviary that’s protected from the elements and predators. He’ll also require a diet tailored to his needs, fresh water at all times, and a regularly maintained environment. As pigeons are social animals, having one or more compatible companions will be essential for his well-being. Ben should never be kept alone in a small cage. He’s looking for a serious, committed family ready to offer him a life that’s appropriate for him and the respect he deserves.

About Ben

What life with Ben looks like

Ben is a adult mixed breed bird waiting at SPA Compiègne in Compiègne.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ben, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ben?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Compiègne handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ben on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ben if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Compiègne will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ben already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ben isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Compiègne early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ben and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
