Benji

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 6 years

Benji is a loving, sensitive and very people-oriented dog. He is initially a bit reserved with strangers, but quickly warms up and shows himself friendly and open. He is very affectionate and clingy, loves to cuddle and enjoys his quality time on the couch. Benji was very spoiled by his owner and has lacked nothing so far. He is playful, cheerful, very active and loves to swim. Benji is very tolerant with other dogs, he reacts calmly if he is barked at. He has learned to be alone and is of course house-trained. Unfortunately, Benji does not like cats and shows a hunting behavior here. He is rather afraid of (small) children, so only a household without children is suitable. All in all, Benji is an active, robust and healthy dog who is looking forward to new adventures with his people! We wish him a loving and responsible home where he receives the affection and security he knows and deserves.

DE·Show original

Rasse: Französischer-Bulldoggen-Mix, Rüde Schulterhöhe: ca. 43 cm Benji ist ein liebevoller, sensibler und sehr menschenbezogener Hund. Bei fremden Menschen ist er zunächst etwas zurückhaltend, taut aber schnell auf und zeigt sich freundlich und aufgeschlossen. Er ist sehr verschmust und anhänglich, liebt es zu kuscheln und geniesst seine Quality-Time auf dem Sofa. Benji wurde von seiner Besitzerin sehr verwöhnt und es fehlte ihm bisher an nichts. Er ist verspielt, lebensfroh, sehr aktiv und liebt es zu schwimmen. Mit anderen Hunden ist Benji sehr verträglich, wird er angebellt, reagiert er gelassen. Er hat es gelernt alleine zu bleiben und ist selbstverständlich stubenrein. Katzen mag Benji leider nicht und zeigt hier ein Jagdverhalten. Vor (kleinen) Kindern hat Benji eher Angst, daher kommt nur ein Haushalt ohne Kinder infrage. Alles in allem ist Benji ein aktiver, robuster und gesunder Hund, der sich auf neue Abenteuer mit seinen Menschen freut! Für ihn wünschen wir uns ein liebevolles und verantwortungsbewusstes Zuhause, in dem er die Zuneigung und Geborgenheit erhält, die er kennt und verdient. display: none !important; .lSSlideOuter .lSPager.lSGallery {

About Benji

What life with Benji looks like

Benji is a small adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Porz in Köln.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benji, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benji?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Porz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benji on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benji if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Porz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benji already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benji isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Porz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benji and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
