BENJI (M) 4 years - to be adopted by BorderLineCollie Characteristics Date of birth: 7/02/2019 Gender: Male Registered with LOF/LOSH/ISDS: No Disabilities: No Child compatibility: yes, from the age of adolescence Dog compatibility: females yes, but males need to be tested. Cat compatibility: no Other compatibility: No Character Benji is a happy and active Border Collie. He is friendly towards people and children. Young children do not pose a problem for Benji, but his energetic behavior tends to knock them over. The biggest hobby of Benji right now is swimming! Story Benji arrived at the owners' house as a puppy. He has always lived in good harmony with the other male dog present. However, for the past few months, he has been quarreling with the other male dog, mainly when they eat their dry kibble. Benji wants to chase the other dog away and eat his dry kibble, which leads to arguments. Benji reacts to other male dogs by barking frequently. He also likes to chase birds in the garden. Currently, he lives with the other male dog in an outdoor kennel with the possibility of going into the barn. Benji knows basic commands, but for now, he doesn't really feel it necessary to listen. He especially pushes his own limits and does what he wants. He is demanding towards his owners and constantly pleads - whining and complaining - for attention and care. He experiences a lot of restlessness that he cannot eliminate due to the lack of activities offered by his owners. The behavior described above and the expansion of the family have prompted the owners to ask BorderLineCollie to find a more suitable home for Benji. Benji can be left alone at home in his crate. In the car, he has no problems. During walks, he reacts to passing trucks. Benji was tested with sheep but showed no interest.

About BENJI

What life with BENJI looks like

BENJI is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Border Line Collie in borderlinecollie.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting BENJI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BENJI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Line Collie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BENJI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BENJI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Border Line Collie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BENJI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BENJI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Line Collie early rather than rehoming privately; they know BENJI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
