Adopt Benn

Unknown · Senior · 16 years

Edit 5/2024 Beník is a great example of how some dogs need a long time to get used to their owner. In this case, it's a volunteer, a dog walker. The owner visits him regularly, likes him, and didn't impose himself at the beginning. Benn found his way to him, and their mutual trust is now at a level where the owner puts on a muzzle so Beník can go for walks with other dog walkers. Exactly in this way should also his new owner start, without pressure, calmly, so that Benn begins to trust him. We would like him very much to also get a chance. Upon arrival: A beautiful mixed breed fox, 12 years old, we are still getting to know him, he is not used to attention from strangers or handling, so we have a gradual introduction, putting on a collar, muzzle, etc. Benn will be happy in a house with a garden in the future. Not suitable for a family with children. Benn goes for regular walks with a volunteer, makes progress, but it takes a lot of time... The new owner must also expect a very slow approach.

Není vhodný do rodiny s dětmi. Benn chodí pravidelně na procházky s dobrovolníkem, dělá pokroky, ale je v tom hodně času… Nový majitel musí počítat také s velmi pozvolným přístupem.

About Benn

What life with Benn looks like

Benn is a small senior dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
