Adopt Benny

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

animal rescuer: Desislava Bogdanova born: approximately April 2022 Gender: male Location: Bulgaria neutered: yes FIV test: negative FeLV test: negative Disabilities: Benny has no eyes compatible with: Children: no Cats: yes, but rather with queens Dogs: no Requirements: NONE Single housing only suitable for apartment living, NO outdoor access Balcony or terrace desired (if available, the safety is required) Benny's mother was pregnant and completely helpless left by a river in the forest. Only thanks to the help of some fishermen who occasionally fed her with bread, she managed to survive. In the security of a hollow tree trunk, she finally found shelter - and there Benny was born together with his siblings. When Desislava learned about the family, she took them in. Benny is a special soul, because he was born without eyes. However, this is not a hindrance for him, but normality: He perceives the world differently. Benny needs a manageable home. Soft furniture and lower scratching posts give him security, and once he has internalized his territory, he finds the food bowl and litter box completely independently. Unfortunately, Benny tends to have accidents next to the litter box - a behavior that he might also maintain in his new home. Here, people are needed who can deal calmly with this. His eye sockets require only minimal care: A short cleaning with a damp cloth every few days is sufficient - Benny even enjoys this affection very much. Otherwise, Benny is an absolute dream cat and a real lover of people. He does not need great action or wild play to be happy - Benny is rather a quiet connoisseur. His greatest passion is cuddling: He loves nothing more than lying in the arms of his humans and enjoying the closeness to the fullest. He may not watch life with his eyes, but with his big heart, and is ready to give all his love to his new heart people. Benny is looking for people with a lot of heart, who are not upset by possible "hoppalas" next to the cat litter. He wishes for a quiet, manageable territory and definitely a relaxed, social cat friend by his side, as he does not get along well with tomcats. Who will give this special boy a loving home?

About Benny

What life with Benny looks like

Benny is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
