Adopt Bentley

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Bentley, a dog born in December 2017. Bentley is a quiet dog after going through some transitions. He arrived with us all tangled up, and in his worst condition, his tail was the only thing in good shape. It wasn't immediately possible to make things right with his appearance because Bentley was initially very withdrawn and would show his teeth during attempts at contact. This didn't bode well, but we wanted to give him more time to gradually get used to us and our new environment. This strategy helped as he eventually opened up to people, allowed himself to be petted, and even started going for walks on a leash. Eventually, we could do a bit of grooming to improve his appearance, as he really looked scary. The worst places we had to clip, including his belly and especially his tail, which had only three large tangles. It might seem strange now, but there was no other option, and the fur would grow back over time. Grooming procedures are not among his favorites, and we had to be very careful. Currently, we are trying to further socialize him, as we see great potential in him. It's clear that Bentley needs space and finds it well in the yard where he poses nicely for photos. He would lie down on his back and was very pleased with belly rubs. So far, he hasn't shown any aggression towards other dogs and was quite interested in them. In his daily routine, the little dog in his box is exceptionally calm and quiet, doesn't destroy anything, and even doesn't seek special attention, though he seems content to see humans. Bentley needs a constant contact with humans to fully blossom and become a full-fledged member of someone's family. We would be very satisfied if the little dog found a home quickly and received a chance for a better life. We ask for your help in his name. Bentley is microchipped, declawed, vaccinated, and neutered.

Bentley, pies urodzony w grudniu 2017r.

About Bentley

What life with Bentley looks like

Bentley is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bentley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bentley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bentley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bentley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bentley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bentley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bentley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
