adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Bento has found a home! His story: Our golden Bento moved into his foster home in Lahr in early January and immediately won the hearts of everyone. At about 4 months old, the puppy shows a true heart to belong. From the moment of his arrival, it was clear: Bento is a really nice puppy! He came almost house-trained, is balanced, and takes his own downtime, sleeps through the night, and has seamlessly integrated into the routines of his foster home from the first day. It's also okay if it takes a bit longer in the morning, because Bento likes to sleep comfortably out! In the house, Bento is curious, open, and friendly without being pushy or overexcited. With his familiar people, he is very cuddly, seeks body contact in quiet moments, and enjoys every pat. He can easily settle down near his trusted people at any time. His playful, loving, and loyal nature makes living with him pleasant, unbothered, and simply beautiful. Bento quickly understands and applies what he learns, he wants to please and makes it easy for his people. Even outside, the handsome fellow is balanced and interested. He has quickly adapted to walking on a leash and explores his surroundings attentively but not fearfully. With other dogs, he makes friendly but more cautious contact and likes to play. With new encounters with people, he is attentive and friendly, but also shows a certain watchfulness. His white-brown fur has a beautiful pattern and is wonderfully soft, one would like to stroke him all day. His black-brown snout and his sweet hanging ears emphasize his gentle expression. Currently, he measures about 46 cm at the shoulder and weighs around 12 kg. When fully grown, he will be a large, beautiful male dog. From his looks, Bento likely also has a few herding gene traits. Therefore, we wish for him a loving home with enough space, clear guidance, and people who can channel his watchful nature in the right direction and give him security. Originally, Bento came from Bologa. Together with his eight siblings – Baxter, Lönne, Peppi, Dolly, Nancy, Beaver, Jakko, and Leve – he was on the verge of a fate that one can hardly imagine: they were already on their way to a Romanian shelter with a killing station without return. In the last minute, they were saved by private animal rescuers and taken into care. Bento is a relaxed, unobtrusive puppy with a really nice character. A faithful companion, best buddy, and a real enrichment for his future family! If you are the right people for our Bento, please contact us and get to know him personally. Bento is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Of course, he also has his EU passport and can travel after a positive match. Love Caro, we thank you for giving Bento such a beautiful name. Thanks to you, Bento has an identity and the chance to find his family. Status: 12.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 12.02.2026

About Bento

What life with Bento looks like

Bento is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bento, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bento?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bento on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bento if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bento already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bento isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bento and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
