adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Bernina can stay forever in your foster home! 78112 St. Georgen. Bernina is waiting in her foster home for you starting in mid-January! Her story: Zalau, Romania: Bernina, rescued from the public shelter in Zalau, is a real treasure. She shows great affection towards people, is modest, and very friendly. New situations don't seem to be a problem for her; she quickly gets used to things like harnesses and leashes. She loves being stroked and will definitely integrate well into her new family. She is friendly towards other dogs, but whether she gets along with cats has not yet been tested. Bernina has already passed the wild phase of puberty, but at 3 years old, she is still a young female dog who is bound to have more adventures. If you are looking for a more laid-back dog and don't need the energetic phase of puppyhood anymore, Bernina is a good choice. With a shoulder height of about 45 cm and a weight of 12 kg, she has a pleasant, medium size. Although she seems very easy to care for, it's important not to forget that she also has a past we know nothing about. But whatever it was, she hasn't lost her faith in humanity. So, give her enough time to settle in and be prepared to forgive her the occasional mishap in the house. Then, she will surely learn the dog ABC together with you and become a loyal companion. Bernina travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated. She will be handed over after a positive match. Have we piqued your interest in Bernina? The young lady would also be happy to stay in a foster home. Thank you, Silvie S.! You gave Bernina this unique name and thus an identity.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Bernina darf für immer in ihrer Pflegestelle bleiben! 78112 St. Georgen.

About Bernina

What life with Bernina looks like

Bernina is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bernina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bernina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bernina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bernina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bernina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bernina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bernina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
