adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Berri can stay forever in its foster home! 67269 Grünstadt. Berri can travel to its foster home in mid-March! Her story: Cluj, Romania. Cessy, Ebby, and Berri – a playful group of puppies are looking for a home! The trio was found in an abandoned house. The mom was also there, unfortunately, she hasn't been secured yet, but our helpers are still working on it. The puppies were lucky and found a foster home in Romania. Unfortunately, they can't stay there forever. Berri is an open, friendly, and cheeky male dog who has already learned how to win hearts. He is playful, cheerful, and curious, and he loves all the attention he gets. He enjoys playing with his sisters. Currently, he is about 3 months old and has a height of about 38 cm and weighs 9 kg. He will continue to grow and probably become a big puppy. It might be that Berri carries herding gene. Accordingly, we are looking for a rural home with little chaos and few trusted people. A life as a city and office dog would not make him happy. Berri is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a little mishap shouldn't be held against him, and Berri should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is already looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, lots of cuddle time, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos will turn the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" a lot of what they have learned and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it is especially important to consistently – but lovingly – train them during this phase. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Our sweet Berri is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive foster home jump! Would you give Berri a life full of love? Many thanks to Margit Sch.! You gave Berri a name and thus an identity!

About Berri

What life with Berri looks like

Berri is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Berri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Berri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Berri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Berri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Berri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Berri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Berri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
