Berry

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Berry (born 07/2017) is a male dog of about 56 cm in height, and you wouldn't guess his age at all. He is fit, playful and full of joie de vivre – a thoroughly uncomplicated dog who likes to accompany his people through everyday life. In his foster home, Berry shows himself to be a friendly, well-balanced and people-oriented companion. He gets along excellently with other dogs and enjoys every form of attention. Cuddling in particular has won his heart – he most likes to be very close to his people. Berry also does many things right in everyday life: he is house-trained, can stay alone for some time without any problems, and travels calmly in the car. He reliably knows the basic commands such as sit, down and come. He walks nicely on the leash, stays closely oriented to his person, and already listens very well off-leash. Since Berry is food-motivated and eager to learn, he enjoys working together with his people. Despite his uncomplicated nature, Berry wishes for people who give him calm, clear and confident guidance. He feels most at ease with people who convey security to him and lead him consistently yet lovingly. For Berry we are looking for a loving home with people who want a loyal companion for shared outings and cozy cuddle sessions. Steady, dog-experienced children of an older age are also a good option in our view. Anyone who gets to know Berry will find a charming, cheerful and affectionate dog who makes his people's lives a little more beautiful every day. Berry is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-screening. A safety harness (3 straps) is required when collecting the dog. Such a harness can be purchased along with him for only 25€.

About Berry

What life with Berry looks like

Berry is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Berry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Berry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Berry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Berry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Berry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Berry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Berry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
