Berry

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

mixed breed Berry – ready for his own home Together with his four siblings, Berry is among the many puppies currently living in our Bulgarian partner shelter. But there, the young male dog is not meant to grow up. He wishes for a loving home or a foster home where he can settle in at his own pace. Berry is typically a curious and playful puppy, but he shows a bit of shyness at first. He needs time to build trust and warm up. Once he has gained security, he becomes friendly, enjoys the attention of his people, and is also social and compatible with other dogs. Of course, Berry still has much to learn about what it takes to live harmoniously. His future people should be aware of what it means to accompany a puppy on its journey to adulthood. With patience, loving consistency, and a positive approach, he will surely develop into a loyal companion. Perhaps Berry also has a part of a herding dog in him. Characteristic traits should therefore be taken into consideration. A home in a rural area with a securely fenced garden would be particularly suitable for him. Berry wants to finally settle down, find security, and be loved. Who will give the handsome boy the chance at his own home? Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also be a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new lives. If you have serious interest in adopting Berry, please contact the responsible mediator at SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy to discuss the possibility of a foster home.

About Berry

What life with Berry looks like

Berry is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Berry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Berry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Berry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Berry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Berry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Berry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Berry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
