Bert

Mixed Breed · Male

Ernie is a fun-loving little lad of around one and a half years old, weighing approximately 12kg. Full of energy, personality, and affection, he’s looking for an active family who can keep up with his playful nature while giving him all the love he craves. Ernie absolutely adores people and is always ready to make new friends. He’s incredibly friendly, loves a cuddle, and enjoys spending time with his favourite humans. Whether he’s playing, exploring, or curling up for some affection, Ernie is happiest when he’s part of the action. Like many dogs in a shelter environment, Ernie can be quite vocal and will bark at dogs in neighbouring pens. He can enjoy playing with other dogs, but when attention is involved he can become a little snappy, so he would be happiest as the only dog in the home where he doesn’t have to compete for affection. Ernie is an energetic young dog who can be quite mouthy when he’s excited, so he’ll benefit from continued training and owners who can channel his enthusiasm into positive outlets. Unfortunately, Ernie cannot live with cats. He has shown a strong interest in the cats at the rescue, pacing around their pen and snapping, so he will need a cat-free home. He also hasn’t been assessed with children, so any potential home with children would need careful consideration. If you’re looking for a cheerful, affectionate little companion who will keep you smiling and happily join you on all of life’s adventures, Ernie could be the perfect addition to your family.

About Bert

What life with Bert looks like

Bert is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at O.U.R. Dog Foundation.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. O.U.R. Dog Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — O.U.R. Dog Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with O.U.R. Dog Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
