adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Betty has found her forever home! Her story: Betty's life has been very turbulent so far, as the small female dog was found abandoned and frightened in the woods. She was probably abandoned by heartless people there. But Betty was saved and even found a foster home for her. However, she couldn't stay there and was passed on again, now living in a private shelter. Here sits the little mouse and hopes to be adopted by loving people as soon as possible. The sweet Betty has everything one could wish for: She is friendly and cuddly, beautiful and small, only about 35 cm in size. Additionally, the small female dog has the perfect age. At about two years old, she has already passed the exhausting puppy stage and also her puberty. Despite this, Betty is still a young girl that will quickly learn all the rules for a good house dog with lots of loving affection and positive reinforcement. The sensitive little dog still meets unfamiliar dogs and people, especially men, a bit reserved, but if you don't pressure her and meet her respectfully, Betty quickly gains trust and would like to be cuddled and spoiled all day. Betty is active and playful for her age and wants to experience as much as possible. She wants to be stimulated, run through green meadows, and spend as much time as possible with fellow animals. After the adjustment period, she would also be happy to visit a positively working dog training class, as training with her new people would give Betty security and strengthen the bond to her new people. Due to her appearance, poodle genes cannot be ruled out, so her future family should be familiar with typical characteristics. With her short, black-brown fur and her sweet, sugary snout, Betty is a particularly beautiful, small female dog. She has small floppy ears and looks at us with faithful, brown eyes straight into the heart. We hope for a happy future for her. Of course, a forever home would be the optimal solution for the little Betty, but even a foster home as a stepping stone to a better life would be very helpful. Has Betty already snuck into your heart? Then contact us. She can travel to her new home after a positive Betty vaccination, microchipping, deworming, neutering, and with an EU pet passport. A special thank you goes to the namesake Verena, who gave our sweet Betty her name. As of: 12.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 12.06.2024

About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
