adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Betty has found a home! Her story: Betty and Hugo – two siblings to fall in love with! They were found shivering by the roadside. In freezing cold, they cuddled together, and it's likely they wouldn't have survived much longer. Hungry, dehydrated, and lonely – until our life savers found them. She could now be placed in a private foster home. Betty is about 2 months old and is expected to remain a small size. She is a real bundle of joy and brings with her an active energy level for her age. Excited and with a wiggling tail, she fills the room. She loves the toys or enjoys playing heartily with her brother. But just as much, she loves snuggling into the lap of people and winning their hearts with her big eyes. Her innocent curiosity and gentle nature make her the perfect companion always ready to shower you with love and put a smile on your face. Betty is looking for people who won't expect much from her and will show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Occasional mishaps shouldn't be held against her, and Betty should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with nature walks, snuggling hours, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of these little rascals upside down. They "forget" much of what they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently – but lovingly – train. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Betty can travel to her home microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She will bring her EU pet passport with a positive result. Who will give Betty an appropriate dog life? Many thanks to Christina S.! You gave Betty her name! Date: 24.02.

Vielen Dank Christina S.! Du hast Betty ihren Namen geschenkt! Stand: 24.02.2025

About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
