BETTY

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten · 6 months

Betty has never known a family—she’s been living at the ENPA shelter on the Aeolian Islands ever since she was a tiny puppy. She has a sweet, cheerful, and enthusiastic personality. What makes her happiest? Water. Betty loves going to the beach: she has a blast splashing in the waves, rolling around on the shoreline, and, playing with the water, she manages to feel completely carefree. Betty gives her trust and affection only to those who spend time with her and treat her with respect. Her sensitivity requires patience, but those who earn her trust will discover a companion capable of forming deep and genuine bonds. At shelters, many dogs and cats are waiting to meet someone who can offer them a life filled with love and shared moments as part of a family. Yet, too often, these animals spend their entire lives in shelters. Every day, volunteers work hard to create for them a daily routine in which even a simple gesture—a shared moment of relaxation, a walk, or a special snack—can make all the difference, providing a sense of warmth and normalcy that helps them feel loved, while holding out hope that each one of them will find a forever family outside the shelter. With remote adoption, you can become part of Betty’s life—even from afar: your support ensures she receives proper medical care, nutritious food, and daily moments of peace and serenity.

IT·Show original

About BETTY

What life with BETTY looks like

BETTY is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at ENPA in Rome.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting BETTY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BETTY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BETTY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BETTY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BETTY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BETTY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA early rather than rehoming privately; they know BETTY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
