Adopt Bigfoot

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · 3 years

Bigfoot arrived into our care as a stray. He is a sweet but shy soul who will need a lot of time, patience, and understanding to settle into a home environment. Bigfoot has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Please see the link below for more information about FIV cats Because of his FIV, Bigfoot will need to be an indoor-only cat for the rest of his life. However, we are looking for a home where he could have access to a catio, as he enjoys spending time outside and watching the world go by safely. If you can offer Bigfoot a quiet, loving home, please fill out the form below.

About Bigfoot

What life with Bigfoot looks like

Bigfoot is a small adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Danaher Animal Home in Braintree.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: FIV positive - requires indoor-only lifestyle and cannot live with other cats

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bigfoot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bigfoot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Danaher Animal Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bigfoot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bigfoot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Danaher Animal Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bigfoot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bigfoot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Danaher Animal Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bigfoot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
