Adopt Bill

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 4 years

Bill is unfortunately back with us after the separation of its former owners. It is a young, energetic, playful dog and very affectionate once trust is established. However, it is essential to be transparent about its needs and temperament. Bill is a nervous dog that can strongly protect its environment. In situations of stress or discomfort, it may redirect towards biting. Therefore, it needs experienced adopters, capable of reading and understanding canine signals, and above all, respecting its limits. It can switch very quickly from one state to another, which requires constant vigilance, a real ability to anticipate, and work on emotional management. This is not a dog for a novice household, nor for a family looking for an "easy" companion. On walks, Bill is rather nice: it can be comfortable and shows the ability to handle encounters with proper handling. However, during peaks of excitement, especially in stimulating contexts (such as exiting the crate), it may happen that it redirects onto the leash or clothes. These are behaviors that will need to be accompanied and guided. Bill is a dog that likes to learn, be stimulated, run and play. It is also cuddly and attached to people it knows well. Like any good Malinois, it will need regular activities, both physical and mental, to find a good balance.

About Bill

What life with Bill looks like

Bill is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bill, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bill?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bill on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bill if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bill already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bill isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bill and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
