Billie

Male · Young · 3 years

Billie is looking for a patient, understanding owner who will take the time to build a strong bond with him and continue the fun training he’s been enjoying with his handlers. He'd love someone who enjoys engaging his brain, playing games and exploring quieter places together. He’ll need to be the only dog in the home, and his new family will need to understand his reactions to other dogs, keep up his muzzle training and help him build confidence with vet visits. Billie would suit an adult only home or he could potentially live with dog savvy teens who can read his body language and respect his space. Billie has all the ingredients to be a fantastic companion: he's clever, playful and full of character. He’ll keep you smiling with his silly antics, and if you’re happy to take things at his pace, you’ll have the best friend in Billie Noodles! Meet Billie Noodles! This handsome boy is a 3-year-old Lurcher Crossbreed with a big fun personality who is adored by everyone here in the centre. Billie is an absolute goof who loves to play tug, chasing a ball or simply just throwing his favourite teddy around. He's also a clever clogs and loves learning new tricks, figuring out puzzle games or putting his nose to good use. When he's not busy having fun, Billie enjoys long, relaxed sniffy walks and stretching out on the sofa for a well-earned snooze. Billie can be a little shy when meeting new people, so he'll need multiple meets to build trust at his own pace. Once you're one of his favourite people, you'll have the most wonderful companion who is a big fan of cuddles and bum scratches. Billie needs to be the only pet in the home as he finds dogs at close proximity difficult to cope with, therefore he will need to be walked in quiet areas away from other dogs. Billie would prefer to live in a quiet area with little dogs around so he can relax fully in his new home. The good news is he loves car rides and is happy to travel for new adventures! Billie has worked hard on his training and knows plenty of great skills to help him in situations he finds tricky, and he would love someone who could continue to engage his brain and work on his training with him. He's also fully muzzle trained and comfortable wearing his muzzle when out and about and at the vets.

About Billie

What life with Billie looks like

Billie is a large young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ballymena in Ballymena.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ballymena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ballymena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Billie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ballymena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
