Birdie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Birdie is part of a litter of 3 kittens from Esme's litter. She has 1 brother named Buck and 1 sister Bambi. As for their history, this little family spent 1 month at the Rennes animal shelter. We do not know the details of their life before, but it must have left some marks that are reflected in their characters. The three kittens and Esme are afraid of humans. They flee as soon as they see a hand... But that's not why we don't see them! Birdie is a rather discreet cat at first, but she reveals herself with a little patience. For the moment, what we observe is the sparkle in her eyes when we start waving a feather. Like Buck, she won't go out of her way to seek cuddles, but if we wait patiently for her to come and eat her food near us, she starts to enjoy cuddles with a few purrs. So you'll have to be patient with her and teach her that humans can be gentle and kind, that cuddles can be great. Birdie currently lives with her brother, sister, mother, and 2 4-year-old adult cats with whom she gets along wonderfully. She can therefore be adopted alone or with another cat in the household. She can also be adopted with her brother or sister, especially Buck (black and white) with whom she has a beautiful bond! She is ok with children and cats.

About Birdie

What life with Birdie looks like

Birdie is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Arche de Noé Brest in France.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Birdie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Birdie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arche de Noé Brest handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Birdie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Birdie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arche de Noé Brest will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Birdie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Birdie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arche de Noé Brest early rather than rehoming privately; they know Birdie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
