Birdie

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born in 2022. Gender: Female. Spayed: Yes Character: Very friendly Size: approx. 47 cm In shelter since: March 2023 Hello, everyone! I am Birdie and the people here have said I should look extra sweet for the photos! I think it would work… They say it would increase my chance of being discovered by the right people. People who can imagine giving me a home. My first real home! Because until now, I couldn’t grow up properly protected, like a puppy should. What I’ve already experienced stays my secret. But what I want to experience, I’m happy to share with you! I want to grow up with loving people who take me by the paw and show me the big world out there. People who don’t give up at the slightest difficulty and give me time to get used to my new life. And when I settle in, I want to have adventures with my people, run wild on green meadows, and fall asleep happily in the arms of my people at night. Maybe you’ve just fallen in love with my sweet eyes and can imagine sharing your future with me. If that’s the case, please get in touch! I’m waiting here for you! If you’re interested in Birdie, please fill out our application form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Birdie is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Birdie has been taken over by Alexandra M., and she ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: 2022 geboren. Geschlecht: weiblich.

About Birdie

What life with Birdie looks like

Birdie is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Birdie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Birdie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Birdie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Birdie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Birdie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Birdie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Birdie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
